Is This A Good Laptop?

Need to get a laptop for my DS, preferably one with XP rather than Vista. His needs are fairly basic, ie internet, Word/Excel, storing music but he would also like it to have wireless capability and a DVD re-writer.
Have seen this one at Misco and would welcome views on it.

The link to the laptop I posted had XP whereas the others have Vista, does that account for the price difference.
There's quite a few different laptops available at Misco with XP but I've been advised to get a laptop that is quite popular next time so it's easier to get parts if something breaks down and I'm not sure if Acer fits into that category.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
