No one will come into your house and take anything to sell. All the OR is interested in is the 50inch plasma you have in the corner of the living room or the Picasso in the loo. If you have anything worth over £1000 then they will be interested generally.
As for your car you have to write to the OR to explain why it is a nessecity and not a luxury.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
it's actually amazing how I have nothing to show for this debt!
Oh and I do feel tons better now....nothing luxurious about driving my car!!!0 -
It's amazing the misconceptions about BR people have and they love telling you all the horror stories  .
Anything you are not sure of just ask there is usually someone around who can help.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Sorry this seems to have been missed.

Your 'friend' is talking about a programme called beat the bailiff, where the bailif gains entry and marks goods they want to take to help clear a debt. This is nothing to do with BR-once BR the bailif is well and truly beat!Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

Penny - Suziq is so right!! It was a stupid dodgy program where the baliff went round and the presenter posted star labels on stuff to show the debtor the difference between what the debtor thought the goods were worth to what the goods could actually be sold for. Beat the baliff my bottom. Don't let them in to start with - that beats them!! (And BR trumps that completely!)
Anyway, the point is NO-ONE comes round. The OR can tell from your bank account and credit card statements what you have been spending on, so a £2k purchase at Comets last month is going to be sticking out like a mega sore thumb and not worth claiming that you don't really have a plasma screen etc. You should be honest on your BR forms with regards to assests. If you have a Rembrant or a plasma screen then they are likely to want it to service your debts, but they are not interested in your naff laptop or CD collection (unless you have a Presley signed LP!!)
No-one comes to check, no-one paints red crosses on your doors and personally I would be selective in what I told my friend. Get yourself here and aks questions from the horses mouths so to speak. I know that your friend is trying to help, but mis-information is of no help to you whatsoever.
Take care, and best of luck!0
