    Most supermarket would be happy to change it if you don't think it tastes right. Just take it and ask.
    You don't want to risk eating it especially a young child and your going to throw it away anyway so you've go nothing to loose.

    I've had 'real' butter in my fridge that's tasted sour before. Tend to find it's when I've got something strong-smelling in the fridge at the same time. Strawberries and onions are not a good taste on you toast in the morning!

    these spreads do have some buttermilk in the so can go sour if too warm

    they really are no substitute for real butter though and are really worse for you icon9.gif

    All oils & fats can go rancid ... apparently, polyunsaturated fats/oils are more prone to going rancid than saturated fats.

    At least according to this
