Take it back and complain and get it exchanged, It shouldn't be off, but I once worked in a supermarket and know that some of their frozen and chilled stuff is not kept as it should be 'out back' - gets too warm before it goes back in the fridge or freezer!
I only buy real butter and do know that that can turn rancid - it's a very distinctive taste and smell. Don't buy spreads, but I'm assuming they will be similar too.0 -
it dont smell but just has a sourish taste to it.... to be honest its made me feel quite sickly with it.... and hungry cause i cant have my toast lol0

Take it back, definitely. It does taste sour if it's off and can give you gippy tummy.

Butter can go rancid if it is stored too long, so therefore any products which cobatin buttermilk can go off, take it back and get your money back, make them check the rest of the stock as well.

but it's not butter.(It's a vegetable oil spread) Maybe the oil has gone rancid (although butter can go rancid too)
