Hi,
With so many offers it gets confusing! Does anyone have any suggestions as to which Bank offers the very best bank account for a new small business? I'm looking for interest on the money in the account and no charges whether paying cash/cheques over the counter, ideally not just for 18 months but permanently. If the Bank has an ethical policy then so much the better. Any ides as to where I should look would be most gratefully welcome.

You could try abbeys business banking (https://www.anbusiness.com). Its free forever, so long as you don't put more than £3000 a month in, offers interest etc.
You can't put money in over the counter, it has to be through a cash machine (same with cheques). You can Post cheques to them however, which is great if their isn't one in your area.0 -

Hi,
I have a couple of defaults on my file and have recently opened a business account with Nat West, you get a solo card and a cheque book which is all you really need.
Who do you have your personal account with ? They may be able to open a business account for you, as most of the banks are not as strict with their business banking.
Good luck with your new venture.

Doubt if you'll get anything that meets all the criteria you specified - you'll need to decide what's most important.
"free" banking permanently - try Abbey
ethical policy - probably Co-op
interest on the money - shop around
What about things like quality of service, accessibility for you, internet banking facilities etc?Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0 -

It limits you to £3000 cash a month before it charges you. You can make unlimited amounts of cheque and BACS deposits free of charge. See http://www.anbusiness.com/services/charges_interest.shtml#freebank for details.0
