Help With Cefa Exam

CEFA only do the certificate level. CII would accept that as 70 points (which is the same as the CII version currently) if you went on to diploma level.
Dunstonh, have you completed your diploma yet as I remember that you said you were completing CF2 to make up the credits? Did you do any exams in the April sitting?
As regards to the orignial question my main advice would be the get as many past papers as you can, they are by far the best way to learn both the material and the way in which the questions are asked.
With all the exams I have taken whhat I do is read through the material first to get a broad understanding of what information is contained within the module, paying more attention to the untis which contain a bit more technical information such as the investment sections. After this I would complete a past paper which should hopefully give you an idea of which areas you have absorbed well and which areas you need to go back to.
Then I would go through and mark the paper, marking any questions along the way relating to areas that you were not 100% sure on. What I find this does is allows you to narrow your learning and break it down more in to chunks that relate to something, you won't pass by just reading through the material as you probably won't take much information in (especially in unit 1 as it's horrificly boring!). What I also find it does is gets you used to how ask the questions (phrases used etc....), which means you will get caught out less in the exam, and also help you to understand what they are looking for within the questions.
Then repeat this method with as many past papers as you can get your hands on.0 -

I have a couple more to do to finalise it. Because it wasn't necessary before I never did them all. However, with diploma almost certainly going to be mandatory for IFAs in about 3-5 years time I will finish it off. I may go the whole hog and carry on to get chartered status.
I didn't do any this April as I was way too busy (lousy excuse but April is such a bad time to have exam sittings). I did the CF2 in June to get the extra 20 points and passed that. It was a doddle to be honest although after 14 years doing the job it ought to be! (although I passed the mock paper on to a few other advisers who failed the mock by quite a margin).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
