Travel insurance question.

Ive just come back from my holiday, and was delayed for 24 hours, the travel agent gave me a delayed departure letter to give to my insurers.
I got a claim form too in the post from my insurers to make the claim, but just seems all i can claim for is delayed departure.
Now i had to take a day of work etc, who actually pays for this and can i claim for it from anyone?..

Thanks for your help all.

Weere you delayed on the way out or in?

I can't see any travel insurance policy paying out wages due to delay.

You could try and take this up with the airline but I doubt you'll get anything.

You may be entitled to some compensation from the airline.
It depends on why you were delayed.
If it was weather then it's tough I'm afraid - the airlines can't control that.
If it was a technical failure (or generally something within their control) then you might be entitled to something but it will not be your wages, it will be a fixed amount.

Similarly on your travel insurance it will be a fixed amount.

As for the days holiday, I'm afraid that apart from the compensation above, it will have to come out of your leave.
Can't you take it from your holiday allowance? rather than paying for it?

Even then it depends on whether your flight was 'just' delayed (no compensation) or cancelled and you got put on another one (maybe compensation).
