Had a letter from butlins today telling us that they are building a second hotel but work being carried out shouldn't affect our holiday. Does anyone know where the hotel is being built on the site so I can see how close it will be.
It's the first time we've been to butlins, always done haven untill now. Any tips on getting the most out of our 5 days there? PLaces to go, places to avoid?
Thanks.

Ohhh is that what they are building there? I live a few miles away from butlins and there was an outdoor swimming areas which is under going building works IE it has all gone so I guess they are building it there. The areas with the out door pool is next to the road but also quite close to some other accommodation.
Butlins is fab and Bognor is right on the beach. A fair amount to do in the area depending what you want.
Chichester is nice for a day out has bowling cinema and shopping and some nice places to eat really nice architectures market type town.
Arundel have a fab castle is nice to, loads of ducks to look at and some nice quaint shops with a good pizza express. The black rabbit is a fab pub with good views over the river arun I would def give that a go but does get busy so get there early.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -
Oh right - thanks for that. It explains why the outdoor pool area is not on the map of the park they sent but is on the google map lol.
Can we get to Arundel by train or is it a car only visit?0 -
Oh yes the train is fine, I think you will need to change at Barnham or ford ask at the station. Chichester also you will need to change for but all in all no hassle. Chichester train station is pretty much in the town centre. But Arundel you will need to walk for a few minutes but easy to find and nice for a day out. Glad you are a fellow train user too!
If you fancy something a little further away get the train to Portsmouth harbour its about an hr or less. only a short walk (5 mins) from the station there is a discount shopping centre ( next outlet and the such) http://www.gunwharf-quays.com/
Also the Marry rose and spinniker tower http://www.spinnakertower.co.uk/
to name a few, lots of places to eat over looking the boats also bowling and a cinema ( vue do discounts kids films on Saturday mornings). Plus day trips to the Isle of White.
Hope you have a nice time :-)Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -

i think maytaurus has got confused between bognor and minehead, as dunster castle is literally a mile from butlins in minehead, and wookey hole caves are in the same county as minehead, as i have experieance of this having spent 10 years working at butlins in mineheadDave

You will have a great time in Butlins, Bognor. There is so much to do, that it is hard to find time to leave the resort. It is right by the beach and it is a lovely walk into the main town from there. There is a little market on the way on a Tuesday and the shopping area has lots of shop and a Sainsburys to stock up on any bits. We went half board, which worked out great value with an eat as much as you want buffet for breakfast and dinner (never had lunch as too full from breakfast and had early dinner at 5pm). We hired a little fridge in the resort to keep our drinks cold (and milk). The onsite supermarket was fairly well stocked and had corner shop type prices. Useful for daily papers and snacks. We bought our sand toys from a pound shop in Bognor and things like Glo tubes (popular in the big entertainment hall) were cheap in thie pound shop.0

mummyto4, what is in the castle? Is it a place to go in and look at exhibits or just walk around the grounds? By the sounds of it, we might be too busy to go sightseeing lol - but we want to ahve some ideas of places to go just in case.0
