If you hand back your keys to your home but you already have a rented home from a family member to move to and you are JSA so that means that u`r poll tax and rent is payed for you and the only people who know u`r new address is bt,bank,tv license and the doll office and because I`m not on the electoral roll as yet so heres my question once the house has been sold is there any way of my debtors finding out where I would be living Duckypoos

I'm not 100% certain, Duckypoos, and I'm sure that someone will be along soon who has more of an idea than me, but I would think that between BT, the bank, the TV people and the dole office (who are an official government body), one of these groups will be part of an "address-sharing" scheme which will help people to find you. The electoral roll isn't the only way to trace somebody.
Sorry, I suspect that this isn't the answer you are wanting, but I think that enough people will know your whereabouts for anybody looking for you to be able to access your details and follow you...

P.S. Why not give a few more details on this board and let the people here try and cut down your outgoings and clear your debt? If you post an SOA, we may be able to help. It has to be better than trying to outwit the authorities and being "on the run" from the situation, which is what your post sounds as though you are doing at the moment...

I'm sorry but I think running away from your debts is definitely wrong and debtors might well catch up with you a lot faster than you realise...
Definitely post up a SOA for us to have a look at and see if we can't give you some options on how to repay your debts

I've recently been traced for a debt from 1996, although under "statue barred" they still traced me, and I've been living at the same address for the last 6 years.
This forum has numerous threads from folks who've been traced many, many years after the debt.
Just fyi, a debt is NEVER written of, only if it's a) paid, b) the debtor dies.
Debts are sold on, sold on, sold on.

Must just add that you won't automatically get Housing Benefit if the house is reted from a relative. They have to be able to prove it was bought as a business venture (maybe by it having been rented out before and that it would be rented out if you did not live in it).
You should still be able to claim Council Tax Benefit.
Also,by 'handing the keys back', do you mean a bought house that you have a mortgage on, and you're giving it back to the bank? If so I'm afraid to say you will still have to pay off what you owe.
I think your credtors would be able to find you as they share information with each other.
I think you may be best to see a free debt counselling agency such as CCCS or the CAB.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Hi all to clear a few points up which I should have put in my first post:o
Must just add that you won't automatically get Housing Benefit if the house is reted from a relative. They have to be able to prove it was bought as a business venture (maybe by it having been rented out before and that it would be rented out if you did not live in it).
The house in question is my brother-in-laws and has been on the market for about 10 months he`s owed the house for about 7+ years I`ve already phoned the HB and explained the situation with myself and my wife and that hes willing to take it of the market at the moment because of the downturn in the housing market and rent it to use with a tenets rent agreement they informed my that although they say that they don`t usually rent to relatives as long as he can prove that he did`t by the house just to rent to use it should not be a problem .
Also,by 'handing the keys back', do you mean a bought house that you have a mortgage on, and you're giving it back to the bank? If so I'm afraid to say you will still have to pay off what you owe.
As to this point we have looked at every option from contacting CAB and the National Debt line and taking advice from this forum about my debts as for the mortgage My mortgage won`t give me a mortgage holiday but will accept to spread any arrears over the term of the mortgage however my mortgage is 664.22 per month and we get 390 per month so after doing the math on this we have come to the conclusion that we have only a few option they are:-
1. Increase monthly income to cover outgoings as a self employed plasterer work has`n been forthcoming even after spending 121+ on advertising for 4 weeks which I still have 2 weeks left I know I could have paid this of my mortgage but at this point in it won`t my much of a deference with my mortgage lender I did phone them they were very sympathetic(NOT) and as for HB to help pay the mortgage I don`t get any help for 39 weeks and by that stage I`ll be about 4 to 5 months behind with th mortgage payments.
2. Go bankrupt no something I would like to do at this moment in time because who knows things can only get better.
3. Reposition would not like to go down this road either.
4. Hand back the keys although this will have the same result as in I`ll lose the house and will still have to pay back any short fall in the value of the mortgage as I will it option 3 I`ll still be able to hand them back instead of having them taken from me.
so as you can see I have thought long and hard and taken advice about my options and I`m really great full for any and all advice that anybody can give me but I have to look towards the future we have be lucky that we will have a home thats been fully done up and we don`t have to save a deposit for as for the shortfall in the mortgage the only this I can do is to deal with that when they start chasing me for it whenever that will be but who knows I could get loads of work in or win the lotto things can only get better I hope thanks anyway any more advice is very welcome Duckypoos:T0
