Please Help -totally confused!!!

Hi guys, just hoping that someone could advise me about a technical problem.
I have applied for an on-line job, they asked me to do a system check to make sure my equipment is up to speck.
They told me:
that I must have a local router between my comp & the internet to run the workbooth software. It seems that my IP address is a direct connection to the internet. Either disable the connection or place a router between it and the internet.

How do I do this?

Also I do not have enough memory I have 383 mb and need 512 mb.

Can I increase this by deleting programs that I don't use? Can I buy more memory for my laptop? Its a Compaq.

This may seem like a silly question but I have no idea about these things and I don't know who else to ask.

I appreciate any ideas.

Thankyou x x
You cant have everything; where would you put it? ;)

  • You will need to get either an adsl or a cable router, depending on whether you have a bt or virgin media line.
deleting programs does not increase the available memory, you will need to buy more, I recommend visiting https://www.crucial.com/uk, enter your system make and model and they'll tell you which ram you need to buy.
    hope this helps.

Who provides your internet? (BT, AOL etc)? Some of them provide a free router, otherwise they can get quite expensive.
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right
