The obvious ones are mentioned, such as BCCI & Barings, but some "strange" banking decisions by the UK big boys are highlighted as well.

An interesting read. But - with the exception of BCCI - did ordinary savings account depositors get burnt in any of those cases, or just shareholders?
Of course spotting the potential BCCI may not be easy - but as a depositor I'm still prepared to trust Abbey under Santander ownership. Admittedly I know nothing about Santander, but even if it does goes bust that doesn't mean Abbey goes bust as well.0
