It can all be done on the phone, would probably help if you can be with her to help if she gives permission for you to speak for her. She would then need to send in her NI number and ID and I'm afraid some form of confirmation of what income she has and any savings as stated in the OP.
If she would tell you the facts and figures you could put it through Entitledto and at least give her an idea of what she can claim and if all that fails, tell her I'll send Martin round0 -
A Pensions Service Visiting Officer could come to visit her (call your local Benefits office, JS+ office) and take copies of the bank statements, she may find this easier.
This is the Government, so it is as safe as it gets!
(And yes, I am aware of the irony in that last statement!) The Visiting Officer will have been Criminal Record checked.
The info on bank statements is no more than you give when you pay by cheque or by Debit card and loads of people see that info every time you buy something. Keep trying! Age Concern may be able to set her mind at rest.0 -
Thanks for your informative replies guys... I have tried most of the arguments you have put forward on her.. and I believe that she did have someone come visit to do the claim for her... but she does not want anyone else knowing what she sees as her private business i.e. what she has to live on... I agree with everything you say about it being safe but she just refuses to show them what she has, she firmly believes her word should be good enough.... so I guess it will come down to a time when she maybe can't pay a bill then maybe she will just have to give in...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

tanith, I just wondered if she would let her bank write a letter confirming that her balance hasn't been more than £X in the last 12 months? And if the bank would write such a letter ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
