I would just like to add a big thanks to everyone and Martin Lewis Money Saving Expert Website
Last year I posted about my concern about my finances, but boy have things so changed within the last few months.
Just thought I'd let you into what I have been doing and my situation.
Last year my outgoings was more than my incomings, I was relying on Credit Card's and a Loan to get me by.
Now here are some changes I have made.
1. I've moved house and saving £200 alone on accomodation costs. No longer paying for living in the centre of a town
2. My new house is closer to work and therefore less travel in the car £200 saving. I was travelling around 300+ miles a week to work.
3. Cut down my mobile phone expenses by negotiating a new deal with Three Mobile and a package that actually suits my usage not a off-the-shelf tariff
4. I live close by to the shops now and visit ASDA regularly. I found Martin's tips on shopping at certain time - i recommend 7pm onwards for ASDA ;-) I'm getting a little better at buying based on need rather than impluse but still need for improvement ;-)
5. I've not used my credit cards in over 2 months.
6. Just read Martin's article on pay off your debt with your savings. Below are some things i've done.
Paid off a Natwest Account - £500 overdraft. Account now closed :-)
Paid off a catalogue account - Requested account to be closed
Setup full repayment DD for my Capital one card. £187 outstanding on card from £1000 limit
Paid £250 towards my Barclaycard. £900 limit. £600 outstanding
Paid £250 towards my Eggcard. £2250 limit. £1800 outstanding.
Paid £250 towards my vanquis card. £1000 limit. £660 outstanding.
For the first time in ages my Current Account has been in credit.
I know theres still some debts to pay off but believe me compared to last year that Is nothing.
I estimate by Christmas that I should be debt free :-) wooo hooooo

Just imagine... by spring you could not only be debt free but have savings in the bank with NO cc's, no overdrafts and no loans

Imagine going in to pay cash for a large thing - like a holiday because you already have the money and won't have to worry about paying it back when you get home
One day soon...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
