Gumtree Advertising - Tips required

Gumtree is a really good FREE site to advertise anything you want locally.
I use it all the time and find it really good.
However i was wondering if there are any tips in order to get your listing to the top? Whats the best time to post a listing to ensure maxium exposure.
Currently i try to relist the advert a couple of times a day, however i dont find that this helps increase where it appears.
I dont want to advertise in the features as it costs money! and us moneysavers dont like spending money!! ha.
Any tips will be appreciated!
