    i was thinking that the watch and its strap should last about 15 - 20 years.

    I hop you mean 15-20 months even that is pushing it.

    Must rubber straps will last a max of 18 months from experience depending on the quality.

    My Argos watch is still going stong after 5+ years. Same battery and strap too! It cost (approx) £12.99 but I haven't kept the receipt. The face is looking a bit old and scratched - a bit like it's owner - but I'm getting my money's worth on this one!
