Rendering/Pebbledashing a house?

Hi all,
I'm a new poster here and noticed this board and thought I'd give this a shot!
We desperately need a new render of some sort on the house but the one company we got in to quote for render (following a door to door sale - idiots we are) took 4 hours and came to a grand total of £20k for a 3 bed old semi!!!
Does anyone know how much (average) pebbledashing or rendering would cost for a 3 bed semi? And if there is any way of getting it cheaper in any way at all?
Thank you!

Homebuilding and Renovating magazine quotes £25 per square metre as a guide.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I wouldn't get those large companies in I think they always charge a lot. Why not ask family and friends for recommendation of a builder and get some quotes
Is the render that bad. Ours was patched up a few times, we just filling it some cracks with filler and put pva glue on loose bits watered down and painted with dulux weathershield, it was painted previously though. Cost about£200 including buying a 3 part professional ladder0 -
If you need rendering, ask around for decent plasters / renderers. Get 3 written quotes. Remember they may have to use scaffold / access equipment for difficult bits, eaves etc., so this may push the cost up. But it certainly won't cost £20.00. I would have thought you would get decent change from £4 - 5000.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

about 5, i would have thought allowing for the removal of old existing rendering, scaffold, skip etc. It does depend what type of rendering you require ie standard sand and cement or Krend etc there are a lot of different types.0

We have done a few pebble dash jobs.i would say you would be looking at £3-4 grand plus price for removing render0

Thank you so much for all the replies - I couldnt get back on over the weekend.
Someone asked if it was really that bad. I'm afraid it is. We pulled down a wooden porch on the front of the house that was letting in more water than it kept out and it has left a huge hole in the pebbledashing around the front door which looks hideous. On the back of the house they must have had a lean to at some point too which has left one huge patch of wall as bare brick now so that cant be good either.
We have nowhere neare £5k though - looks like it will have to stay for a few more years!
THanks again everyone!Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!!
