Used car warranty

I'm thinking of getting a used car from cargiant (2002 car with 42000 milage) and cargiant quote 3 yrs '5 star mechanical breakdown warranty' with AA - I'm not sure if I should take that up? Is AA warranty good?

Also if I don't take that up, will it be cheaper if I get one myself? Any recommendation?

Thanks.

it is always more expensive from dealers as they earn a commission from the warranty companies for selling the product so commission is built into the cost.

I am sure you will save a lot by going direct - why not get online and get some quotes?

Don't bother with any of these £30-£100 warranty's you can buy, they don't pay up. You can't provide any decent cover at that price.
Check the warranty's policy on wear and tear. Most wriggle out of a claim as it's wear and tear because the cars done x miles. Well it's not a brand new car so of course it's done some miles!!!
Warranty Direct with all the optional cover elements selected (take them all or don't bother) will probably come out at £300-£450 (don't take the online wait, wait a week for them to call back with a better price) and their policy on wear and tear is to reduce parts cover depending on mileage as you go over 70,000 miles on the car.
