Can anyone recommend a calendar?

I've been using Outlook for years for email and the calendar.
For some reason it has given up the ghost at reading my email on the imap server. I've been told to try Thunderbird instead, and this seems fine.
But with Thunderbird not having a calendar (that I can see) I am still keeping Outlook open for the calendar, which seems slightly silly.
So does anyone know of a decent calendar app that I can download for free?

We've had good reviews on this forum for Lightning:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/lightning/
I was a bit miffed to find out this ~after~ I'd tried Thunderbird and abandoned it because it didn't have a calendar!
So I'm now using Evolution, which is very similar to Outlook (but is only available for Linux AFAIK).0 -
I use Mozilla Sunbird - basically same as Lightening but it's a separate program and so runs even when your Thunderbird is closed.
I don't miss outlook at allworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I have heard the new hollyoaks calendar looks quite stunning.
I use google calendar myself and find it very good0 -
Hollyoaks babes calendar is awesome, I have the beautiful women every month looking at me!
I also have my own google ipage which has all the dates and stuff i need to remember (my mum and her bf can also update their google calendar and it then updates mine so I know if they are going out or whatever)0 -
Thanks all.
I saw that Mozilla had two calendars, which put me off slightly. But I guess that's a relevant difference if one works with the email client and the other is seperate.
Given that I will always have Thunderbird open (It's my work machine. As much as I'd like to avoid some of those pesky customers, I don't think I should!) do I take it I might as well go for Lightening over Sunbird?
And does anyone know the advantages / disadvantages of the Mozilla offerings over the Google Calendar?
Presumably with Google you have to be online, but I should always be online. And I guess it means I could access the calendar from the office and from home, which would be nice.
Do all the calendars under discussion give pop-up reminders?0 -

Had a look at the Google Calendar demo and I'm quite impressed.
Come on Mozilla fans, I think it's up to you to try to convince me otherwise...0 -
They're both good. Google calendar has the advantage of being able to share calendars easily, import calenders relevant to you (like UK Bank Holidays) and there's also a Google gadget that you can but on your iGoogle homepage that shows your appointments, bank holidays, etc... But I think it's not fair to compare Google's calendar with Mozilla Firebird or Lightening because one is an app the runs on your computer, the other is online. Some people may have concerns about the privacy and security implications of giving all your calendar information to Google, and storing it entirely online.0
