Well there wasn't any measuring or weighing going on
I made some dumplings for the stew and had loads of mixture left over so I added sugar to it (I say roughly 2oz - I just chucked it in) and added a whole punnet of Tesco blueberries which are on offer. I put it all in a Pyrex pudding bowl and steamed it in a saucepan for about 3 hours. Thing is I couldnt find the lid of the saucepan
so I had to use tin foil. But it turned out ok.

I made a beef stew in the slow cooker today....simply delicious...
I am so full...almost bursting ...hee hee. In the pot went chunky lumps of stewing steak, one chopped onion, a variety of chopped vegetables, two chopped potatoes, one tablespoon of lentils, one tablespoon of pearl barley, half a teaspoonful of herbs, a little sprinkle of salt, and today I just used two vegetable stock cubes from a well known manufacturer. Not sure if we are allowed to say who...but their initials are Knorr.

hi greenfingers, your stew sounds lovely, only please check the ***stock cubes you used haven't got any nasty artificial flavourings in. if it says flavour enhancers, monosodium glutomate,or flavourings, i would try and avoid buying them because they are bad for you. have you tryed kallo stock cubes available in supermarkets , all natural too, and because you put lots of tasty ingredients in your stew anyway ,you would'nt have needed to use the artificial ones. hope you find them, and like them. take care.0

I can second that. I made Chinese Chicken in my slow cooker today (found the recipe on The Index) - didn't have any chicken stock so used the Marigold stuff instead. The results were fan-flippin'-tastic!0
