I've taken a leaf out of your books

I'm cooking the tea right now. Theres a chicken stew cooking in the slow cooker (double amount so that I can freeze half for another day), a blueberry steamed pudding in a saucepan made from scratch (blueberries half price in Tescos) and I have bought porridge oats for tomorrows breakfast. I'll get the verdict from my children when it has finished.

Well the stew was lovely. I could have eaten the other half but I won't. The kids ate it too. Now I'm waiting for the steamed pudding to cook which looks lovely. I'm addicted to dumplings or suet puddings

  • Sounds good. You can always have the stew tommorrow instead of freezing it (stews and casseroles usually taste better on day 2 anyway, especially beef and lamb, but I think chook too).

    I've joined the brigade too!

It's done mainly to take out the additives and other E's from the kids food. And in a single week I can't believe the difference in them (except for Lara and that wasn't really her fault - more the schools!)
see My other thread from yesterday!!!

And my food shopping bill has gone down and I'm getting excited about what I can cook next!!!!

Actually I have been doing HM stuff for a while. My oldest daughter has AHD which is aggravated by E numbers. I used to cook a few things from scratch but most of the time I was reading all the ingredients in supermarkets looking for stuff without E numbers. I'm going to use up what I have in the freezer at the moment and then do a menu for a week's worth of food cooked from scratch.

The blueberry steamed pudding turned out really well. My kids had it with custard cooked from scratch (not a packet or tub) and I had it with cream.

    we've all gone OS!!

i've been planning my meals ahead, looking only at SC dishes atm, cos being a SAHM of 2, things can get a little hectic during the day.
I love the SC, as I can feed up the food whenever we're hungry.

I've had a quick look at the recipes and it'd be great if anyone could point me in a better direction for more baby/family meals.
ATM, i'm cooking for myself (as OH works evenings) my 2.5yo DS and 10mth old DD. so any new recipes greatly appreciated.

    Well done MSE, I'm addicted

    Wooo Hoooo :T :T :T

I love it when we get new people on board as we can share even more recipes! :D

I've not read your other posts but I can take an educated guess that you've had problems with your kids having certain additives or E numbers in their diet?

When I read about the increasing cases of ADD/ADHD that are affecting kids today the first thing that springs to my mind is diet, and in almost all cases you'll find that processed foods are the cause, and although I've not experienced such extreme problems with my own kids, I have noticed a marked difference with the foods they eat ;)
