Mate of mine frequently gets upgraded and other benefits. The way he did it is he bought himself one of those cheap Lordships so he can officially call himself a Lord which his passport says instead of Mr. Works a treat for him and has done for years.Cheers

I thought that if you dressed in jeans instead of shorts, and asked nicely, you were automatically entitled to a flight upgrade:j0

A cousin of mine works check-in and I have often asked her this (purely for selfish reasons). Over the years it has got much more difficult with airlines more and more reluctant to give 'freebies' but she has mentioned about flagging people as 'suitable for upgrade' under conditions such as special anniversary (e.g. 1, 10, 25, 50), newly weds, well dressed etc. It is one of the reasons that when I fly on holiday I would never wear jeans, shorts, tee shirt etc. .. always chinos and a collared shirt. It has worked for us in the past but not recently

Hi folks,
Im going to close this thread... it was written in my name by one of my team and I didnt know it was going up. I think the tone and nature of my original question weren't quite as it should've been and it is easy to start again.
