We are flying into Bergamo Italy on 17th February 2006 and need a room for one night before travelling up to Livigno. I can only a few hotels and some are either too expensive or do not have availability. There must be loads more in Bergamo but do not know how to get to them. Any ideas anyone - thanks

Hi
The Mercure Bergamo is £66.75 for a double room with breakfast and there is a bus opposite which goes to Oria al Serio airport. Is this the one?
Offer on opodo.com as well as several other websites.0 -
https://www.hihostels.com is the international Youth Hostel Association website and there is a hostel in Bergamo. I stayed there last year, clean and easy to get to. Take the bus from the airport into Bergamo bus station, change onto another bus for a 5-10 minute ride and it stops outside the hostel. A four bedded room is £50. Other than that they have single sex rooms with no more than 6 beds if I remember correctly at £12 each per night - including continental breakfast. Okay, not first class travel but very affordable. Some continental hostels I have stayed in have been better than some **hotels I have been unfortunately enough to find myself in. Also, check out https://www.accorhotels@accor-hotels.com - go to the special offers page and they have three levels of booking, two that you can alter any time up to departure at a price or the flat fee no change booking that is considerably cheaper. They run the IBIS,MECURE and Novotel chain - latter option sometimes works out not much cheaper than a youth hostel. Hope this helps.
Try and visit Bergamo Old City before you travel on, and if you are a shopper there is one of the largest shopping malls in Italy right opposite the airport. Ask airport staff to point in the direction of where the crossing is to get to the other side of the very busy road. - Have a lovely trip.SallyD0
