Can anyone recommend good value shutters for bay windows?

You are going to seriously struggle to buy these off the shelf.

You won't buy any shutters off the shelf. When houses were built with sash windows and shutters, labour was cheap and each one was made by hand and individually to the developer's and carpenter's taste. There is no standard.

The only off the shelf shutters i have seen,were some plastic ones i fitted for a double glazing firm.They went on the outside at the sides of the windows and were purely ornamental.

I had a couple of dudes out to price up for plantation shutters for my lounge and master bedroom (2 x large 3-pane bays and 3 x large windows). The prices came in at £4500 and £3000. This was for hardwood, not the white PVC, which I think are quite a bit cheaper.

I've since heard some horror stories about botched installation which has put me off a bit (that, and the price of course...)
