The last time my cooker oven element stopped working, I paid nearly £100 for a service guy to put a new one in.
The oven stopped heating up properly during the week. This time I took a look myself, found the element was only fixed in with 2 screws with 3 plugin wires for the current.
I found this site https://www.elementman.co.uk and ordered a new element on Thursday evening for £24.50. They do free delivery as standard, but charge an extra £2 for next day delivery. This morning the element arrived. Excellent service (and very easy to navigate site)! My oven is now working properly and all it cost me was £26.50 in total.
Warning!!!
Fixing your own electric oven is not for everyone. I'm pretty handy, and have a fair idea of the workings/dangers of electicity. If you don't know anything about electric, get someone in to do it for you. You can risk death/serious injury if anything goes wrong!!!

How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
