I had one called a maya sling wrap,To be honest it wasn't that good.At the end of the day a heavet clingy 2yr old is always going to be heavey after a while sling or not.
My daughter was 2 in July and for the last 3 weeks she has been so whingy and clingy,it's a nightmare!
  • Another site to consider is TreeHugger Mums - https://www.treehuggermums.co.uk, according to their newsletter, they have just started stocking slings and are offering 10% off everything this month.

    Might be worth a look.

There are alot of sellers on ebay that do these slings.I have one and found it very easy to breast feed with it.
Can you tell me what sort that is? My baby daughter has decided she wants to be carried (and preferably fed too at the same time) :D i have tried an ergo i know they are expensive but the way things are going it may be worth it.
The school run is a 20 min walk either way by the way;)

This sling http://www.kari-me.com/ can be used from Birth to 4 years. This is the one I'm getting after much research around the subject.

We bought a "close" one and loved it, it was used everyday until DS was around 10 months and then occasionally after that. i didn't actually BF using it, but I will plan on using it for next kids.

We bought a charcoal coloured one both me and DH got on with it, infact DS used to love going on DH's back, he would regularly fall asleep in it and not in the pushchair, but hecould also have a nose around much easier.

I had a Fredom 'coorie' sling which was fab. It was very easy to use as its a fixed size (which means you have to follow their instructions to order the correct size). The other downside was that your other half couldn't use it if hes a different size.

Although I had a super posh buggy it was easier to take the sling, also used it in the house if he was grizzly.

As they get bigger obviously they get heavier and its harder work (think of the extra calories you'll burn though!). When my son was two I wouldn't want to be carying him for more than about 10-20 minutes.

  • Lydia, the kari-me is a stretchy wrap and although it can be used to 4 years, I wouldn't recommend it as they don't hold weight as comfortably as woven slings. Stretchy wraps are FAB for newborns up to about 6 months but after then you really need something a bit more supportive. I decided to compromise - I bought a 5m length of fabric (100% jersey cotton) from a fabric shop, cut it lengthways so I had 2 very long bits of fabric and I use them both as you would a kari-me. Now DS is getting heavier (4 months) I am thinking about getting a good woven wrap - a Didymos, Ellaroo, or something like that - second hand from a sling board, although the way he likes to be carried I am considering a ring sling instead...

Then again most people who try slings (ie proper slings not baby bjorn type things) end up addicted to them anyway and have more than one by the time their baby is 6 months! The kari-me is a really really good choice for a first sling anyway, just wanted to point out that you can make a similar one yourself very easily and much more cheaply. (And I can't sew, at all - jersey cotton doesn't need sewing as it doesn't fray, and if you get 100% cotton it will be strong enough.)

https://www.slingmeet.co.uk and https://www.thebabywearer.com (American) are two sites with loads of info on different kinds of slings!
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right
