 Hello all,
I am pretty furious. I bought my lloyds tsb home insurance online via quidco and was very pleased with my quote. Later on in the week the paperwork all came through and after a month, I decided to just sort them out. Imagine my shock to find my premiums were different from what I had purchased over the internet. My contents were fine, but my buildings were increased (surprise surprise) by a few pounds a month. I called them this morning because I remembered exactly what I purchased, and to my disbelief, I was told they had been having problems with this, and that they would rectify it for me and they could actually see what the right purchase amount should have been.
Surely this is fraud, especially with this direct debit mandate. Lloyds tsb are too rich for me to support as well as my family. How do I complain, they should not be allowed to get away with this.

Thanks for pointing this out, as I am considering them for my home insurance this year - through Quidco of course;)
Will remember to take a screenshot of the quote and confirmation page.

Was there any intention of LTSB to do this? How do I complain, they should not be allowed to get away with this.
you get a pen and a piece of paper and you write to LTSB.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
LloydsTSB are regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and this is a link to their webpage dealing with "scams".
http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/guides/staying_safe/staying_safe_against_scams.html
Tbh - I am not sure if the FSA will consider this a "scam" at first notification, unlike say the Nigerian issues, but if there is an issue that is, or is likely to affect everyone dealing with Lloyds - then they should take it seriously, very seriously imho.
Hope this helps - and thanks for warning us all here!If many little people, in many little places, do many little things,
they can change the face of the world.

Without seeing this thread I also took up building and contents insurance with LTSB at 7.30pm this evening. I printed off the quote as is my way. I then got a confirmation email from them showing an increase of £39. I phoned the number at the bottom of my email and was advised by a member of the skeleton sales team that he couldn't do anything because my quoute had been given on line but confirmed my policy showed the increase of £39 which had been added to my "Buildings" insurance but couldn't do anything this evening. So at 9am in the morning you can guess what I will be doing....... Maybe Scam is the right way to describe it"Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway???? They toad him away!"0 -
I wonder if this is just with DD payments, I paid for my up front so my quote was what I paid.0
-
I would hope not as when I printed off my quote it came displayed with the actual amount Monthly DD shown interest free over 12 months that's why I took it out that way. No point in paying the full amount when it could be earning me a bit of interest;)"Did you hear about the frog that broke down on the motorway???? They toad him away!"0

i am definitely going to write in. It's outrageous0
-
I called them today and yep....... there must have been a glitch in the system, Not heard that one before:rolleyes: And only affecting the buildings side of the insurance, sounds suspect but they say they will put it right but I am advised that I will receive the wrong quote in the post but they have emailed the underwriters to ensure they only charge the correct original price
Lesson for those wishing to use Llloyds TSB for home insurance:-- Print off your quote and the breakdown.
- Don't assume that people know what they are doing even though it is their job, because this shows they don't
- Check thoroughly your documentation the day it arrives
- Think twice about using a company who makes gross errors and blames it on the computer;)
