Somerfield Dodgy Pricing Tactics

Options
went into my local Somerfield today, as mil mentioned they had J2O on Bogof. but when i got to the store the prices didnt tally. according to the shelf price, the pack should cost £2.72, however the large sign was showing 'Bogof, 2 packs for £4.09'

i queried the price difference with a member of staff, i thought perhaps the £2.72 ones werent the ones on offer, and as he wasnt sure either he took one of the packs labeled £2.72 off the shelf, and went and scanned it, and it comes up as being £4.09

so i said, 'you have more of less doubled the price, and now call it bogof' and his reply was 'yes', whereupon he returned to the shelf to remove all the £2.72 price tags

ok, £4.09 for 8 bottles of J2O is still a good offer, but can they really try and pull the wool over our eyes to this extent?

    Either buy it or don't!

Theres not 50% margin in the grocery trade so there'd never be profit in bogof's (unless used to increase footfall). All bogof's are like that in the grocery industry, they wouldn't be able to do them otherwise. Bogo - a bit off doesn't work as well in the marketing world!

    It's just marketing.
