Browser shut down

Both Browsers on my PC I.E. & Firefox have shut down and refuse to fire up thus I cannot access the internet, these were both working fine up untill wednesday night.
Win XP home. Can anyone advise.

If it were me I'd start the computer in safe mode and run a scan with my Antivirus and Antispyware software. How up to date is your Windows XP, Service pack 3 installed?That gum you like is coming back in style.0
