Cooker Supply quote - seems expensive?!

Hi,
I have just been provided a quote for £378.
The work is as follows (no breakdown of costs):
- Upgrade existing distribution board and test all circuits.
- Install one 32 app cooker supply and low level connection unit
- Replace the socket and install a fused connection unit for the extractor
- Test and issue installation certificate
- Inform building control of the works carried out.
Does this price seem fair? He said it would be a days work, so even taking into account the cost of the new distribution board (£100 max?), it seems expensive at nearly £300 a day for labour. Also, the quote states 'All prices subject to VAT' - does this mean VAT still needs to be added to the £378?
Thanks for you advise.

I don't think that is a bad price. How many 'ways' in the DB? might be more than £100. If he is installing a Cooker Supply from the DB, then there is cable costs, ancillaries (conduit etc), making good, switches etc. I would have thought Materials are more like £180.00. Alswo remember that out of any job that you are paying for, just 10% of the price is to actually do the job. The other 90% is to know how to do the job.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Wouldn't he have to pay the local authority for the regs too?
Doesn't seem too bad to me.Electricians aint cheap.0 -
I think thats a damn good price if cooker supply is new, cable isn't cheap anymore. Also this spark has many other expenses aside of materials ( a fair amout more than £100) . I know i wouldn't be able to touch that price0

Thanks for your response guys. I'm glad the quote seems correct (even though it is more than I hoped) as the guy seems really nice, and had some decent reviews from people. Also, he was the only person who has called me back!!0
