Renault Clio Electric Window Problem
Hi guys, I hope someone can either answer my query or point me in the right direction (that doesn't necessarily involve a visit to an expensive mechanic).
I've got a 2001 Renault Clio Grande and about 6 months ago someone closed the door on the passenger side quite hard which resulted in there being a rattle by the switch for the electric window. Initially the window worked ok for a while, but it gradually became less reliable and began to stop halfway up/down and has now stopped altogether. I can hear something rattling around in the door so I'm wondering whether it's just something that has disconnected and merely needs re-attaching. Every once in a while I press the wrong button on the drivers side and accidently press the passenger window switch, and when I do this I can still hear a slight charge going into the switch as if there is still power being transferred, but something is preventing the mechanism from working.
I haven't looked yet to see how difficult/easy it is to remove the inner panel of the passenger door, but does anyone know how to do this before I tackle it and inevitibly muck it up, and/or whether they've come across a similar situation?
Any pointers welcome, also if you need more info, please ask.
Cheers,
JR

Hi sounds like the window mech has a fault with it not electrical. It depends how good you are with mechanical things really ? I think the whole mech will have to be replaced which means the glass will have to come out,I would recemend you get in touch with your local windscreen company they should be able to do the job easily. And if they break the glass they will have to replace it unlike if you were to attempt the job yourself.0

Thanks John, I'll source out a window repair company to see what they say. Would they be a better option than taking it to a garage? or would it depend on who you take it to?0

Sounds like the window has come off the runner, simple to do, take the inside panel off and have a lookDELETE ACCOUNT.

I agree, take or get someone to take the door panel off and have a look, doesn't sound too expensive. (sorry, famous last words);)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I've had a quick look at the door today and whilst i'm happy to try and take the panel off and fix it myself, it does look as if the inside door panel is very difficult to take off. No screws as such, its more like its clipped in. Does anyone have any experience of or advice for taking off these plastic door panels?0

Its a very common fault on renaults for the window regs to fail - do a google for it!
Replacements are cheap enough - around fifty quid on ebay. Fitting isnt particularly difficicult, more fiddly than anything.0 -

There will be a couple of screws under the arm rest and the outer rim of the panel will snap into place with clips. You need a wide bladed tool with a vee in the end of it and a pad to protect the surrounding paintwork while you lever the clips free. There may be additional release points, the door release will need freeing from the panel.
Have done dozens of various doors in the past and we have had a clio for the past 5 years but never had the panel off this one so can't be too specific;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Hi how you getting on with the window problem ????0

i have a similar problem. On the passenger side window when clicking the button, no sound or movement of anything. However recently on my DRIVER side window when I click on the button I can hear the power windows struggling to get up (stuck). Iv taken off the door panel with difficulty. what do i check for?0

Basically I went to push the switch on driver side electric windows and I hear something fall. Turns out after taking the door panel off that where the window sits there is a little clip sort of thing that holds the window on the mechanism that moves up and down. This needs clipping back on or there is nothing to hold the window on the mechanism. I fixed this and it is gone again! Trying to find a replacement part is a pain!0
