  • Could it be something as innocent as a Windows update?

I'm on XP and had some updates recently. It does nag you to restart your computer every few minutes.

After your pc has started up, right click on the bar at the bottom and bring up your task manager. You should be able to see in there if there's anything odd going on that shouldn't be. However, if you don't know what you're doing in there, don't touch anything!

If there's a Windows update going on, you should see it in your task manager as Update.exe or similar.

Also, have a wee look in your control panel at the 'add or remove programs' section. If there's something in there that you know for a fact that you haven't downloaded or installed, get rid of it.
