British Gas Still Poor ?

A British Gas salesman came knocking at the door yesterday trying to get me to switch my gas and electric. He said they were the cheapest around at the moment, which i dont disagree with , but the reason i would not switch was because of the reports i have read about their terrible customer service and problems when switching. Is this still the case , if so whats the best alternative to what i have got. I am currently on EDF dual fuel online v2 tariff living in the west yorkshire region.Should i be looking for a fixed/capped tariff or stick with the type of tariff i already have
