Evening all.
This may sound like a silly question, but is it possible for one to receive payment by someone through a debit/credit card? To rephrase, can I pay someone using my credit/debit card as if I was paying a shop? If so, how can I do that?
Would Paypal allow such flexibility?
Please advise.
Thanks in advance

Hi. Paypal allows you to send money to someone so long as they also have a Paypal account. Within Paypal the other person would set up their bank account details and can transfer money you send to them in to their bank account. There are of course fees for doing this.
Western Union is another option. You can send up to £500 on their website. The other person can then pick this up at any outlet that participates in the Western Union program. Again, there are fees (which can be quite high!) for doing this.
I'm sure there are plenty of other online sites that let you do this kind of thing too. Unfortunately the fees associated with doing it can be high and often it's easier just to give the other person cash or mail them a cheque

Or send the money from your current account to theirs via BACS transfer.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
In this particular case, cash, wire transfers or cheques is not an option.
Thanks for your advice though. I shall check them out0 -
If you have an MBNA account you could always do a balance transfer, whereby you can:
1) pay into someone's current account using your credit card. To do this, you'll need that person's sort code and account number.
Or
2) pay off some other credit card account/bills/catalogue using your credit card. To do this, you'll need the payee account number.
With MBNA, there's a handling charge for balance transfers, this is usually 3% of the amount you're transferring, or sometimes 2.98%.0 -
It most probably will be seen as a cash advance and you'll be charged for it. My mother asked a branch staff once if transferring funds from her CC incurs any charges and the staff member said no. So she transfered payment to me and sure enough when the statement came we were charged for cash advance. We were able to claim back the larger amount of the payment.
Do not go to your branch but ring the credit card company direct and get names and ref numbers to back up what they have said to you.0
