File sharing over Wireless Network

I've replaced my old wired lan with a wireless router and trying to work out how you share files (did it the old way easily !!)
main PC is still connected via USB cable to router, other PC is wireless to router so point to point wireless is out, I've read NETBUI might be the way but have I missed something basic and is there an EASY way of sorting this out ??
Router is a trial one so no point in posting that model as there is no info out there on it yet

Can the computers connect to each other? Find out their IP addresses, and try PINGing them from each other. If they can, then you could use Windows Networking, or else you could set up an FTP server0

neither machine can see the other
LAN Networking was set up before this but now obviously they are connected independently to the internet via the router..I am not sure that FTP would allow me to view the shared drives from windows explorer which is what I am trying to achieve...Ex forum ambassador

I did'nt need to do the browser bit on the XP machine
had to add the service on win 98se machine
added rules on the cable (XP) pc for all traffic between the 2 addresses for both machines
added TCP traffic rule between the same 2 addresses for ALL traffic on the Win 98 machine
Sygate logs kindly told me what was being blocked
and it's addresses
