I saw this on TV last night on BBC1 on the Departure Lounge Show. Bascially in order to get a discount for say a trip to the US from Heathrow, fly to another Europeon country first and buy your ticket there (for the same flight from Heathrow but 60% cheaper).
This link to the BBC site explains it better than I can.

This could be used for a special occasion or if you just wanted to travel in style.
Apologies if this has already been posted.

I saw this on the tv and was going to post it aswell.
I looked on BA and tried Lisbon to New York and sure enough it was less than half the full price of flying from London (£4,500) and it was only 2,200 Euros !
Would still have to be a very special occasion, but will definately try it one day !****************************0 -
BA aren't the only ones to do this, all airlines have cheaper prices for their non - home market depending on where it is, the program should have made this clear. Have a look at KLM https://www.klm.com departing from Amsterdam in Business class to Boston is 4051 euro or about £2590. Now going to the UK site and departing from London Heathrow to Amsterdam to boston works out at £1151.0

It is not only business class, reasonable savings can be made on economy class.
When I last flew to Canada, Air Canada were charging £650 from Heathrow, but only £350 from Amsterdam (which involved a connecting flight from Amsterdam to pick up the Heathrow flight). The cheapness of an Easyjet ticket to Amsterdam made the diversion worthwhile.0 -
Does it work for prem ecom too? or BA world trav +?
Got a price for Barbados for January for 1500 off the BA site (prem)If you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -

I flew to Nice in the South of France on 1st Sept, and flew back to London on the 9th. Booked a couple of weeks before with BA. Economy return £245, Club £490. By asking, I was told that if I flew at 15:00 hrs both ways, I could get a Club return journey for £265 with restrictions, ie. cannot change date/time.
Last year I did a return Club flight to Genoa in Northern Italy, for £170, again with restrictions.
Club class entitles the traveller to first class treatment, and first class lounges serve lovely food and wine... all for free of course.
Moral of the story: it pays to ask. And if it doesn't, nothing is lost.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
BTW BA no longer fly to Genoa, only Ryanair nowPosts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
