Scanner is driving me crazy

I have a Canon Pixma MP170 and I have Windows Vista. Ever since I have had Vista I have had problems from time to time with the scanner. I have 4 pages of text and pictures I am trying to scan to E Mail to someone. The first 2 pages no problem, the third it will only scan in small sections missing bits out. I am going round in circles trying to work out what's wrong, and a word of warning I only understand words of one syllible if it's anything to do with computers:rotfl: :rotfl:
