The chicken and leek bit certainly can. Haven't tried freezing cobbler topping. The topping is quite quick to make and then the whole thing bakes in the oven for about 25 mins or so. I usually make it on a Sunday after a roast dinner (using the chicken leftovers) so don't usually freeze it.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I would like to try the sausage casserole, I saw the lady on come dine with make last night, she put apple and cider in and it looked really yum. Does anyone know of one similar???
Hi Dorry,
I make one which I think came from someone on here ages ago (not sure who though sorry!) It's scrummy & really easy to make:
Sausage & Mash with Cider Gravy
8 Thick Sausages
1 Red Onion, sliced
2 Carrots, chopped
2tbs Plain Flour
100ml Beef Stock
200ml Dry Cider (or more if you plan to leave it longer)
Brown the sausages in a pan & put to one side.
Fry the onion until it appears cooked (add spoonful of sugar to caramelise onion), then add carrots & fry for a further few minutes.
Add the flour & stir well until lumps are gone.
Add the beef stock & the Cider.
Return the sausages to the pan, season & stir well.
Cover & simmer for around 45 minutes.
Serve with cheesy mash.

This thread is great. for the first time in 20 odd years I feel back in control. we used to decide on meals then go and buy the ingredients. nowadays we tend to go and see whats on offer /is new/like the look of in the supermarket.
I find not only am I spending less but am eating better and am looking forward to cooking meals once again."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0
