Its a yummy delicious dish, but decidedly not for dieters......: you fry up some strips of bacon or lardons and sliced onions - when they are nicely brown, add cubed or sliced cooked potatoes and fry it all together for a bit.
Then transfer to an oven dish, pour some cream over it and top with thick slices of cheese (traditionally reblochon, but cheddar will do nicely)
Place in oven until it all bubbles and the cheese starts turning golden.
Serve with a green salad.
Ooooh, now I do mine slightly different.
I par boil thick slices of pots. Fry bacon and onion. In a dish I put a layer of pots, bacon and onion. Then add chopped brie. I do the same procedure again and then I put creme fresh in and bung it in the oven.I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like youwould like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing

I love coming on here trying to get new ideas. Going to start investing in a cooking mag as well for more ideas me thinks.
I'm being a bit of a freezer cook this week as we are off on holiday next Thurs and I don't want to leave easy stuff in the freezer for lodger, otherwise it will all be gone when we get back!
I know he won't touch stuff like my leg of lamb, spag bol, hm hamburgers, chicken etc.
Fri - Sausages/pasta/pasta sauce - Dolmio's, still haven't mastered a sauce that bf and I like.
Sat - Chicken kievs/pots/veg (or possibly takeaway)
Sun - Maybe cadge a meal off Mum (it is Father's Day, so maybe help her cook for him)
Mon - Kebabs/rice/veg
Tues - Cordon bleu/waffles/veg
Wed - Pizzas (going back to hm ones from next month) or dinner at mums
Thurs - On holiday, so mil can cook me something.
Ideas from others' mealplans
pasta with spinach and ricotta sauce - this sounds yum, can I have recipe please?
Tartifelette - gonna look into this as something to cook
Chicken cobbler and roasted veg - what's chicken cobbler?Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

That sounds nice outrageous_monkey - I like the layering with brie! Am going to try it that way, as it has scope for reducing the calories/cholesterol a little for hubby's sake. Brie is not so bad, and I could use low-fat creme fraiche.
Thanks for the tip! Will be on next week's meal plan......"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -

Well I used to make chicken and leek pie using frozen puff pastry - but we have both been losing weight so instead, I do the chicken and leek bit in a casserole dish and top with "cobbler" topping which is a bit like making savoury scones and baking them on the top of the mix in the casserole dish and lots less fat in it than the pastryworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Ooh, I have actually heard of this. Sounds yum. Is it something that can be made in advance, frozen and reheated? I only have an hour when I get in from work to make something edible, so I have a lot of home made ready meals in the freezer!Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
