kenwood car audio problem
Options
Model number: KDC-334
Question: my car audio only displays standby and will not respond to any buttons. When I press the reset button it then either still stays on standby or when a button is pressed it changed to SP-off. there are no other responses.
Kenwood said to speak to the shop if it was under warranty but it isn't.
Any one able to advise.
Thank you

Has one of the fuses gone? There should be 2 fuses in the stereo's wiring loom.
Are the contacts on the front of the stereo and the back of the face plate clean?0 -
Thank you but if a fuse had gone, or the contacts were grimy surely there would be no response on the display rather than the words 'standby' or 'sp off'?0
-
If the fuse were gone on the switched live, it would act as if the car had not had the ignition key turned on.0

Hi is your kenwood one of the mask versions that revolves around when the ignition key is switched off ??0
-
no. it does not revolve but that sounds really good.0
-
Your problem sounded like a common fault like the mask stereo has, due to a fine ribbon that connects the front panel to the radio. Your being a face off would not have this.
Sounds like you many have the stereo in the speaker setting mode, if you turn the volume does the sp off change to sp5/4 or sp6*9/6 or sp0em if yes press the volume nob this should exit the speaker setting mode.0 -

John - you were quite right about the sp off changing to sp5/4 etc. but when i pressed the volume knob all i got was a sore thumb. The volume button has been lost so all i have is the spindle, if that matters.
thank you0 -
yes when you press the button it pushes in a switch does it click when you push in the spindle ?? if not it may push in another part to enter and exit the speaker setting mode. Maybee the outside of the spindle ?? let me know how you get on !!0
