I don't think you do (get free dental treatment). You have to pay for the first bit of any dental treatment, certainly for any checkups, only if you are having major work done will the HC2 help you. Ditto optician. See the other thread that's got a link to it on the previous page.gizmoleeds wrote:This is the low earner's form which you need to fill in. Get it and then you get free dental treatment.
You can also ask for an HC1 form to be sent to you if you don't know where to go to pick one up. Be warned, it's a long one!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

sounds to me that as a student, who will potentially be graduating into a career earning alot of money, that the government isn't going to give you a "free ride" and that you are going to have to pay your way. Why not phone the dentist and ask the question as they are probably well equipped to provide a comprehensive answer. But be warned, just like us all, you never get to know the price of treatment until after its done.

Students dont get free perscriptions as these are benifit tested and you cant actually sign on for these benifits if you are in full time education.
You can get reduced dental as long as you are on a low income (which i think is £12,000 per year) and you dont own property valued at over £9,000.
I got caught out here as bought a dump of a house in my second year of uni - was probably worth £9,001p
Hope that helps
