dont know about maldives specifically but the abbey zero card allows you to make purchases without a transaction fee when abroadKeep the Faith:cool:0

The Post Office credit card gives you 3 months 0% on transactions (handy if you get one just before you go on holiday) and they don't charge you commission either while you're away in another country. I would warn you though that if you apply online and get approved you'll still have to send off documents to them which adds a few days on to the time before you get it.0

Nationwide credit card for purchases.
Nationwide Flex Account for cash.0 -
for credit cards, Maldives wil be same as elsewhere abroad.
as for cash - you will sign thoughout your holiday, and pay in full when you leave. So you could take US$100 in small notes, to give as tips (if you wish, although the hotel will probably levy service charge) or to buy from the local shops if you go on a trip (drinks, T-shirts, souvenirs - but all these will be available on the hotel, which again you can sign for).
the thing to remember about the Maldives is that the island is the hotel, and there is no 'local village' to walk to, to spend or eat out ( (**) actually, there is one, but I forget the name !)Nature is a language ... can't you read ?0 -

Not in my case. Applied on a Sunday got the card on Friday. Quickest turn round of any card I've applied for.0 -
