Home insurance and "relationship status"

Hello everyone...
I am currently trying to get a home insurance quote from various places and the old "relationship" question between myself and my girlfriend keeps stumping me....
We have been together for 8 1/2 and have lived together for 3 years now (1 year in rented and two in the house we brought.....)
Now should I be putting that we are both single and hence "no relation" to each other.....
Or should I be putting that we are "common law"
I think it should be common law, but can't find an easy to understand definitive description of what common law is....

Hi Morph3us,
To put it simply, your girlfriend is considered a family member, so there are no problems when it comes down to getting insurance.
I guess that you do your insurance online otherwise you probably wouldn't be asking this question. For your piece of mind you might want to call the insurance provider after you have filled in the online form, any online 'discount' that you get should still be valid, however the onus will then be on the insurer to make sure that they put your relationship status down correctly in line with their own definition, as long as you tell them you live with your girlfriend.
I hope this helps.0
