Hi, i've got a job of 20 hours starting next week, the job centre cannot fit me in for a personnel adviser while the 30th june, i have phoned 3 times this week to see if they had a cancellation.
The problem is that my oh claims for me and the children, we are on income support and he's also on incapacity benefit.
I've been told on the phone that i'm not entitled to no grants etc including the £250 back to work, unless i take the family off ALL benefits?
Which one of us should claim ctc?
Does my OH still claim incapacity or will he lose it?
How long does ctc take ?
I will be working 20 hours at minimum wage.
4 children , 1 of which is at college.
Incapacity approx £36 a week for OH
I have looked through the forum but cannot find the info i am after , any help would be appreciated.

This is one of those posts where I can't really help but feel like trying because no-one else has yet!
I don't know the answer, but I wonder if you've tried the CAB for benefits advice if the Job Centre can't fit you in? I presume you meant JC when you say social anyway! Also, you could ring Tax Credits and ask them for a prediction and advice on who should claim as they can usually help with this sort of thing.
Hope that helps in some small way!0 -
You claim CTC. Also claim WTC as well. Takes a few weeks to come through. You're best ringing up IB to find out what happens with your husbands claim.0

thanks for replies will phone ctc tomorrow plus IB.0

Your Husbands IB will not be affected by any Income you receive as it is not means tested. If he receives Income Support due to Incapacity it is likely to be affected.0

I did my claims initially over the phone, then had to go into my jobcentre to produce the documentation they asked for and sign my application.
Don't worry,it will all get done!
Well done on getting your job-can I be nosey and ask wat you will be doing?Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
Suziq, i,m going to be a carer, i'm a bit nervous but sure i will be fine. Just worrying about family being worse off.
thnx for all replies.0 -
just been to a community advice worker, i won't get the £250 as i'm only working 20 hours not 24. She is phoning me back later with the amount {approx} of wtc and ctc i will get. thanks everyone.0
