In which case how would I go about selecting funds. I would rate myself as money-savvy, and extremely numerate, but have never done anything like this before.
Is it something I could take suggestions from from people posting here? Or would I need to do some sort of research myself? Or just stick a pin in a list?

Probably best to do some research yourself! People can make suggestions but you need to have enough basic knowledge to be able to make the final decision.

Citywire has some interesting articles on choosing invesments, here, and Incademy is always worth a look. The AIC website also has an educational section, as does Trustnet.
