When you buy coffee in petrol stations! Beware!

Options
Ok.. I do a lot of driving and buy a lot of coffee and over the last 2 weeks i have noticed that a LARGE coffee is the SAME as a MEDIUM one and 35p most of the time more.

Is this legal? You are being sold a large coffee but the machine does not seem to give you more.

How did I work this out? Well i made a large coffee and then thought lets see how much more you get for a large one and poured it into the medium size cup and it was the same amount.

This goes for COFFEE NATION and also MYCoffee

Im sure this is not allowed and that we should do something about it?

You can get Coffee Nation coffee from TESCO and Summerfield and some other stores its the purple cup! and my coffee i only seen in services in southampton from shell!

My top tip would be to buy the medium ones then, job solved.

Its not gonna be illegal unless they have a tariff which stated how much is supposed to be in a medium or large cup, this is how pubs get away with loading up glasses with ice when you buy a coke etc, unless something says that the drinking cups/glass should contain "x" amount of drink then you cant do owt about it.

Personally ive never thought "i wonder how much i can get into a smaller drinking vessel" what would you have done with the remainder if you still had some left?

Ive just re-read your post I like the "we should do something about it" line what do you suggest a national campaign, contact the press etc?

Fair point reading your post just made me feel like you wanted to start a campaign or something, hell im all for a row and a picket line, mind you ive never been on a picket line but im willing to give it a go, but im not gonna shed blood over 35p's worth of coffee.

Mind you given the taste of some of those service station coffees I would take it as a blessing if they didnt give me enough of their tar like substance.

I have to admit that I also sent a email to the people who sort of coffee nation and got a reply from them (from the CEO from coffee nation) which i was shocked by! (Why cant all companys offer a personal email eh lol)
    Phillip,

Many thanks for taking the time to contact us.

Our drink sizes are Regular which holds 12 fl oz and Large holding 16 floz.

If the drinks fill correctly a Large drink contains more volume than the Regular (also allowing for the milk foam which will remain in the cup) This is why there is a difference in price.

It may be the case that our machine has under filled. In this instance I apologise as it is something within our control. If you advise where you experienced this problem we can arrange for an engineer to visit.

It is quite clearly not our intention to overcharge customers; quite the opposite. We hope to offer better value than high street coffee bars whilst offering comparable quality with greater convenience.

Once again, please do let me know where you have experienced this problem and we will get it rectified. I am also prepared for you to meet a representative of Coffee Nation at your nearest Coffee Nation site to demonstrate the fill levels.

I look forward to hearing from you.
