Washing machine which needs no electricity

squeaky wrote:Of course it uses less water and soap - it does a much smaller wash than a machine. Two sheets.
Anybody trying to use this to do a single wash load in batches would end up using a similar amount of water and powder over all. If I wanted to do a small batch I'd just hand wash in a bowl.
I'm sure it has a place somewhere - just not in my house. I'm not the least bit convinced by it. Sorry
Squeaky,
I'm only stating what it says in the reviews about the machine, and there seems to be a lot of people singing it's praises. Fine S_M
But honestly, if I don't like a thing am I not at liberty to say so? As I said - I'm sure it has a place somewhere, just not in my house for all the reasons stated.
I'm not saying anything against you personally - just the machine.

This machine has been around a long time and is well know by caravanners. Personally in the caravan I use a bucket with a little soap powder, a spud masher and a salald spinner. It works fine for small things like socks and knickers, I have washed shirts, tee shirts and light trousers this way, can just get trousers in the salad spinner and it does get qute a lot of water out of the clothes..........use a drier that I got from Kleeneze or betterware which takes to pieces, stands out if its fine and in the awning otherwise......

We used mine when we had 2 in nappies. It was so much better than running a machine every day(very quick indeed). The amount of water is very small about 6 litres I think for a full load before rinsing although I used to rinse mine in a bucket as my 'machine' doesn't have a draining facility like the new one(you just open the lid and empty).
Turning the handle is hard if you dont build up the speed which is what you are supposed to do,once you get the speed,it is just a simple handle turning job to keep the centrifugal force going.
You do get better results with biological powder .
I used to heat my water for it in the kettle and then add cold till I got the right temperature. You wouldn't need more than one kettle for the full load usually less.0 -
squeaky wrote:No electricity directly. I'd really like to know how you set about heating up hot water for it without using your kettle, immersion, or gas boiler?
Fill a bath with cold water, then get in and use your body heat to warm it to 37C?:)
Seriously though, you could use a 'solar shower' device like this:

Squeaky,
I appreciate your comments, and you are quite entitled to express your opinion on something, it's just the sarcastic tone I can't be bothered with, and yes, I am very sensitive, but don't hold it against me. :grouphug:
Case closed.
This guy wouldn't have a problem with the Wonder Washer, would he, but then again, it doesn't look like he wears much clothes.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
