Beware Moneysupermarket.

Beware that if using Moneysupermarket to switch suppliers it will not pay cashback if you have it used it before to switch suppliers, no matter how long ago.

This is not made clear on their website, during the switch or in their Terms and Conditions. It only becomes clear when after you have switched you enquire why they have not paid the cashback. They also "deaf ear" you if try to use their complaints procedure .

I advise you not to use Moneysupermarket to switch if you have used them previously.

    abstract,

As pointed out by Premier, the T&Cs on moneysupermarket.com clearly stated that our cashback payment was limited to one payment per household.

Although the cashback payment was removed from the direct site on 1st April 2008, it is still available through certain channels such as moneysavingexpert.

    Kind regards,

Why not give cash back websites like Quidco a try? You'll probably find they pay far more than moneysupermarket anyway, as Moneysupermarket keep part of the cashback themselves, while quidco pass it all on to the user.
  • Thanks Scope. Thanks also to Premier

I did see the phrase "Payments are restricted to one per household" in Moneysupermarket's terms and conditions. I took this to mean that two or more people, for example co-owners or joint tenants sharing a home and contributing to energy costs, could not successfully each apply for cashback. "Restricted to one per household" is commonly used in competitions etc and means exacly this. I believe few people would think that it meant that you can never enter a future competition with the same company or that if you did apply your application would be dealt with less favourably than first time applicants.

If the company really wants to make its position on this clear in its liteature, it could simply say something like: - We will not pay you cashback if you have previously used us to switch suppliers

It would be interesting to hear from Scott Byron on whether his company receives a full or reduced fee for arranging second switches.
