Car insurance

Hi there,

Just recieved my insurance renewal for direct line.
I have a 997ccs 56BHP V Reg corsa, so hardly a powerful car!

I'm 20 years old, 2 years NCB, driving for 3 years and 4 months, have a named driver discount with direct line. 3 cars in the household all insured with direct line, home insurance with direct line.

Initial premium was 661, although brought down to 560 by adding my father to as a named driver. Thought that quote wasn't too bad.

Did a search on a comparison website and elephant came out cheap as chips, exactly the same details although adding my mother and father as named drivers brought the price down to £392.

So obviously I will be hitting up elephant this year, as it was cheaper anyway but what I want to know, is I won't be living with my parents for the most part of the year but when I'm off on holiday my parents will use my car, so does it matter if my named additional drivers don't live at the registered address on the insurance books?

Shouldn't be a problem. My sister is a named driver on my insurance, and she lives in New York. It's just there for when she comes to visit.

Just a thought that you should really check the position on NCD.

If Direct Line gave you the discount as a named driver then you will tend to find that only Direct Line will then accept that NCD for a policy in your name. Other insurers probably won't.

The address you give to the insurer is your address where you reside and the car is kept overnight. Shouldn't be a problem at all that the named drivers do not live at the same address.

Yeah the NCD I assume is non-transferable, doesn't work out as much of a discount anyway.

I'm just a bit hacked off that was the best they could do was that £600 figure, considering the amount of insurance we have with them.

Never changed car insurance companies before, how do I prove that I have 2years NCB?
