npower
Has anyone found npower increasing the size of direct debits by over 50% without good reason?
I joined them 4 months ago for gas and electric. My gas direct debit was £39 pm. My last bill shows me in credit by £23; the reading (accurate as it happened) was an estimate. They have just told me my new dd will be £61.
I phoned them and they say it is based on what Transco have told them but they refused to divulge what Transco has told them. Totally incompetent.

Sounds like a computer error to me (they do happen, I used to work for a different department in npower, the computers make calculations based on annual consumption and things and sometimes it goes a bit wrong!). I would phone them up and tell them that you want the payment reduced back down to £39. Unless your account's in debt there is NO reason why they should increase your payments.Indecision is the key to flexibility0
