3 PAYG mobile broadband

Options
If you buy this PAYG modem with cash then top up with a voucher again cash, say £10 for 1gb / 30 days. Then how can you go over the limit and be charged?

Surely it should be like a phone PAYG where it just wont let you use it if you run out of allowance?

I dont understand with no details of the owner how its possible they can charge the extortionate rate advertised if you go over the top up download limit???

I think that's only for contract users.

You've not provided much info but I'm thinking the following:

Normal payg phones don't stop working when you run out of allowance, you start spendng your credit.

The 1GB is an allowance. Like the 300 free texts O2 give you. If you send 301 texts, you get charged for the 301st text you send.

Likewise, if you go over your 1GB allowance with 3 you get charged their standard data rates for the overage.

It's got nothing to do with them having details of the owner. They deduct it from your credit. That's pretty normal, no?

If you're saying it's possible to get into debt with 3 by going over your allowance then spending all your credit, then that's bizarre, yes.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

If you are talking about the 3g Broadband Lite option, then that £10 is for 1gb allowance per month.

As said by weegie.geek if you go over that allowance then you will be charged £1 per MB, called (out of bundle charge). Which will be deducted from your calling allowance, when that runs out, you get disconnected.

Im pretty sure you 'convert' your £10 topup on the 3 website to your 1gb bundle, leaving you with no credit but an inclusive data allowence.

either it will not let me connect, or it will try and charge me? but how can it charge me when its on PAYG ?

I think it will just not let you connect, the same that a PAYG handset would not let you connect/call/text if you have no credit.

If you had credit then they could charge you £1/MB or whatever it is out of bundle.
